Meet The Baker
Monique R Jackson, Pastry Chef/Baker
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I attended elementary and secondary schools right here in the greater Houston area. When I was ten years old, my mom gifted me an Easy Bake oven. I baked my very first chocolate cake in that oven and it came out perfect! Little did I know, this is when my gift and love for baking would begin. As I grew older, I would eagerly anticipate the holidays so that I could make the desserts for my family.

As a young adult, I attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Houston (2002-2004). Here I received my Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts. While attending the Art Institute I took a course in baking and pastry as part of the curriculum. This is where I decided to pursue my lifelong love and passion for making desserts. After graduating from the Art Institute I continued to gain and perfect my baking skills by working in the kitchen at a local HBCU, interning at an hospital bakery in the medical center, working at a popular bakery in Houston, and being a Lead Baker at a well-known hotel chain in Houston for several years. I also continued to work on my skills at home by making an array of desserts for my family, friends and community events for the past 20 years.
